Akha culture is have been in Animism.
In this film, we will focus on the Akha hill tribe. The Akha tribe has a strong religious tradition of animism and rituals.
But nowadays, they perform few of their 21 rituals, because many of the Akha have converted to Christianity and Buddhism. So, young Akha do not know the rituals of animism today.
In the past, Akha considered the birth of twins as an unfortunate event,
and had a tradition to kill them after birth.
At first glance, their tradition of killing the twins seems to disrespect the human rights.
But it comes from the desire to protect the village, and they feel compassion for their land.
The tradition of killing the newborn twins is not conducted now due to religious conversion, conservation and protection groups and human rights organizations.
We strongly believe we are all living in a space between conserving the culture and protecting
people's lives.
We will present the beauty of Akha's animism in the film,
and bring their history and culture into the light.
What we have learnt from them was to simply "live the present."
